We kids found the books very funny. Later I found more of the series as well as books in the companion series about Pee Wee Harris and Tom Slade. The Tom Slade books are darker. Un like Roy and Pee Wee, Tom is from a 'lower class' family and had a bad childhood. Some of the books deal with his adventures as a young soldier in WWI.
